The Past

The club was founded in the early days of 1977 when 3 young men with four wheel drives got talking...

The result was an advertisement in "The Courier" for anyone interested to attend a meeting at the home of Colin & Judy Causon.  Quite a bit of interest was shown and a steering committee was formed and the inaugural meeting was held at the Education Centre in Mair St on 9th March 1977.  A provisional committee was formed.

The first club trip took place on the weekend of 19-20th March 1977.  Majority of the vehicles were Toyota 45's and a 55, Landrover SWB's, Suzuki's and a Subaru 1600.

Fortnightly meetings were held at the Lapidary Clubrooms below the Trades Hall in Camp St.  Some meetings were held in private homes as well.  To avoid confusion, nights were changed to 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month - Business on the 1st and Social on the 3rd.
